Inspiration

Okay girls, I'm looking for some ideas here on lunches for kids!

We seem to be stuck in a Macaroni & Cheese rut.....I'm having a hard time with idea's.
In the winter we ate a lot of soups with veggies and beef/barley etc but now that it's hot out i'm at a loss.

Her favourite lunch is Mac & Cheese (I buy the whole wheat KD) with peas and some fruit for dessert (sometimes a popsicle!) Everyday she asks for Macaroni....macaroni....macaroni.....

Hailey doesn't eat sandwiches and isn't a big fan of meats and i've kept her off cheese because of her other issues.

What do you do for lunches with your kids? (She's just about 2)

Thanks!

we do a lot of annie's or mommy's mac&cheese around here. tyler also likes veggie dogs (yuck!) and tuna salad (i use egg whites, celery, olive oil mayo, pickles, and sometimes a little diced up red onion) with a couple whole wheat crackers these days. we also do deconstructed sandwiches. meat, cheese, tomato on a plate. he digs cucumber as a snack. um. sometimes i get those frozen chicken nuggets in dino shapes. i forget which it is, but whole foods carries organic and fake chicken options in those little guys.

what about frozen fruit? i've only tried halfed grapes and sliced strawberries frozen, but he loves them.

i cant think of anything else right now. i often get into those lunch ruts.

Thanks! We do fruit all the time for snacks and dessert, but I guess even if she ate "fruit salad" for lunch it's not the worst thing!

All my ideas are for older kids like pita pizza's and fun sandwiches.

the nuggets are a good idea! I'll pick up some of those. I like the Tuna sandwich on cracker too!

I don't know why but Hailey won't eat meat or cheese on a cracker or alone either. She's just not interested...oddball.

Ok, well I have the youngest of the peanuts but Cade likes to eat cubes of tofu, peas, grapes, blueberries, dry toast, annies cheese bunny crackers, and the odd "other" item. he won't eat much meat but we did buy some organic checkn nuggest with whole wheat crumbs. i should try the tuna salad idea. he is SO picky.

so i know you mentioned the pita pizzas, but i found some mini pizzas and gace one to tyler today. i found a giant pack of organic, whole wheat crust cheese pizzas at costco. since its only cheese, i baked it with some bell pepper and mushrooms on it. just followed the normal directions but with the veggies thinly sliced. he only ate half of it (but it was a good serving for him) and then ate the rest for a "snack". tyler is more on the 5 small meals a day plan...

Ouuu, I'm going to look for those at costco tomorrow!

I don't know if you have a store in California that carries this brand - It's Our Compliments (Sobey's for Kristian) and they have these really cute "junior foods" Hailey loves their whole grain cinnamon waffles. Instead of a big waffle it comes in 4 mini's that fit in the toaster as 1.

They are really good and with some yogurt and strawberries she eats them up. Not exactly Lunch but still.
